Artist concept
Life Sized Buffalo

On one side the buffalo displays a map of the Pony Express mail service crossing the North American continent from St. Joseph, Missouri, to Sacramento, California, from April 1860 to October 1861. Within the map will be pictures of men who were involved in the Pony Express mail service, Buffalo Bill Cody, Wild Bill Hickok, and Johnny Fry. Also on the map will show wagon trains, buffalo herds, steam boat ferries and scenery along the route.

The other side depicts one pony express rider who gets caught up in a buffalo stampede, during a thunderstorm. The only way that this rider could tell what direction he was riding was by the way the rain was hitting him in the face, with this, he was able to ride his way to the edge of the stampede to safety.

The buffalo is standing on a butte rock formation, made from a light weight concrete material.
