Below is my vision for "Rufus"
I wanted to capture the feeling of being in the middle of a buffalo roundup! I wanted the viewer to feel the pounding of the stampede as the herd draws near. The roundup was rendered in enamel depicting a buffalo herd coming forward to the front of the buffalo with the image diminishing in perspective.
The head of the dominating leaders was the most prominent and placed near the shoulders of the buffalo. The head of the leading buffalo will be the actual head of the fiberglass buffalo. The body of the leader was painted to blend in with the rest of the herd. Both sides of the buffalo captured each side of the moving herd. The most distant objects on one side of the buffalo will be the foremost objects on the other side of the buffalo and visa-versa. Cowboys were depicted herding the buffalo from the rear. The setting of the roundup will closely match that the lower South Dakota area.
Rufus now lives in Floyd, Iwoa
